Carruba: un concentrato di nutrienti

The many properties of carob are now widely recognised, and this remarkable superfood is increasingly finding its way into people's diets, especially among those who favour a more health-conscious approach.

The carob fruit contains a wide range of polyphenols, minerals and amino acids. The most abundant minerals are potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, selenium and iron.

Its vitamin content is significant too, above all the B group (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12), vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamin J and dietary folates.

To give a clearer sense of their high nutritional value, considering an adult's daily nutritional needs, 100g of carob flour provides:

  • 30% of the recommended intake of iron, vitamin B2 and vitamin B6;
  • 35% of the recommended intake of calcium;
  • 20% of the recommended intake of potassium, magnesium and manganese;
  • 10% of the recommended intake of phosphorus, selenium and niacin;
  • 8% of the recommended intake of zinc;
  • 60% of the recommended intake of copper.

In short, carob is one of those foods that brings together flavour and wellbeing, and it simply cannot be missing from our kitchen!
